Over-50s specialist Saga Group has reported its ocean and river cruise bookings ‘had another strong start to the year’ in its latest trading update.

The operator said booked load factors for ocean and river cruises for the first half were ahead of the same point last year at 95% and 93% respectively.

Holiday bookings up to 22 June 2025 are also up, with booked revenue 14% higher and passenger numbers 13% higher than the same point last year.

The group said it was ‘trading in line with expectations’ for the first four months and remains on track for the full year.

As of 31 May, net debt stood at £569.5 million, down from £622.7m on the same date last year and from £590.5m as of 31 January 2025.

Group Chief Executive Officer Mike Hazell said: “I am pleased to report that Saga has started the financial year on a positive note, with all our businesses performing well and in line with expectations. Looking ahead, we are focussed on continuing to grow our Travel and Money businesses, while successfully transitioning to our new simplified Insurance model.”

The operator released the figures for the period from 1 February 2025 to 23 June 2025 ahead of its AGM today (Tuesday).
