Rome introduces €2 Trevi Fountain fee

Tourists must now pay a €2 fee to visit the viewing area of Rome’s Trevi Fountain.

The charge, which came into force yesterday (2 February), has been introduced to ease congestion and manage numbers at the popular attraction, as well as to raise funds for its upkeep.

At the same time, a new €5 tourist ticket fee has been introduced for some city museums.

Rome residents do not have to pay to visit the fountain or museums.
