Riviera slashes deposits to £99 to stimulate demand among ‘cautious customers’

Riviera Travel has reduced deposits to £99 per person on all holidays booked between today (9 April) and 27 May.

It’s the first time in its history that it has offered flat deposits across all holidays, all products and all departure dates. Previously, its deposits varied according to the holiday, but the minimum was £250pp.

The operator said the initiative was ‘designed to support agents in reassuring customers who may be hesitant to commit, while helping to stimulate demand in the current market’.

While insisting that it is still seeing ‘strong demand’ for its European holiday programme, Riviera said it wanted to ensure ‘cautious customers are not left behind’.

“We know customers are keen to book but hesitant to commit large amounts of money upfront, particularly for longer-lead holidays in the current market. This initiative removes that barrier, helping agents to unlock bookings for their customers across 2026, 2027 and beyond,” said Director of Trade and Partnerships Vicky Billing.

The £99 deposit will apply to new bookings only, across all products, including river cruises, ocean yachts and escorted tours, for departures from 2026 through to 2028.

There will be no change to existing balance due dates, and it can be used in conjunction with Riviera’s current 10% discount on 2027 and 2028 holidays.
