Riviera Travel has been forced to push back the inaugural sailing of its newest river ship by a week due to a delay in the ship’s delivery.
The first sailing was due to take place on 2 June, but has been delayed until 9 June.
Riviera Travel is in the process of contacting customers who are affected by the delay.
The scheduled naming ceremony of Riviera Radiance, which was due to take place later this month, has been pushed back to November.
Riviera Travel CEO Phil Hullah said: “We’re understandably sorry to share that our new ship will not arrive in time for the planned first sailing on 2 June. We know how much our guests were looking forward to this special occasion, and we’re personally reaching out to offer a compelling alternative.
“The ship’s inaugural sailing will now take place on 9 June. While this delay is disappointing, it is being managed with the utmost care, in the Riviera way, to ensure the impact on our guests is kept to a minimum. We remain confident in the revised schedule and look forward to delivering an exceptional experience when we set sail.”
Riviera Radiance was originally due to launch in April.
The 178-guest ship will have three full decks, plus a sun deck and three dining venues, including a new restaurant called Mosaic.
Its Grand Suites, at 32sqm, are the largest ever offered by the operator, and will feature a separate lounge area and balcony with seating.
Other facilities include a swimming pool, spa, wellness area and the Riverview Kitchen, complete with an open kitchen.
