Rise in job seekers creates ‘real opportunities’ for companies, says recruiter

The number of people looking for new jobs in travel has risen to its second-highest level in 15 months, while new travel job vacancies have dipped to their lowest level so far this year, according to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment.

April’s figure for new job seekers was higher than at any other point since January 2025 and was up by 9% on last April.

However, new travel job vacancies dipped to their lowest level so far this year, with 28% fewer vacancies advertised than a year ago.

Meanwhile, there were 9% more new travel job placements in April compared with March, and 4% more than in April 2025.

C&M Travel Recruitment co-owner and Managing Director Barbara Kolosinska said: “With the Easter holidays, April can often be a quieter month for travel recruitment, so it’s very welcome news to see placements increasing both month-on-month and year-on-year.

“This is the best month of 2026 so far for job placements, but we really need to see this momentum carry on throughout spring and into the summer months.

“While there was a dip in new vacancies last month, this has created real opportunities for those travel companies currently looking to recruit.

“Candidate volumes have remained healthy throughout the year, meaning there is great travel talent available right now for any companies advertising attractive roles with competitive salaries.”
