El Gouna in Egypt will feature in the sixth episode of the latest series of TV hit show The Apprentice, with candidates tasked with putting on corporate away days in the Red Sea resort.
One team will head out to the desert while the other team will create a lagoon tour for clients.
Orascom Hotels Management manages 18 hotels in El Gouna. Chief Executive Officer Stuart Leven said: “We are delighted to finally be able to share the news that El Gouna will appear in the 20th anniversary series of The Apprentice.
“It has been our privilege to host The Apprentice team, and El Gouna’s selection as the official destination for the corporate away day challenge provides the perfect opportunity for British travellers and our agent partners to acquaint themselves with our unique coastal town over the 60-minute episode.”
The episode will air on BBC One on 5 March.
In previous series over the last 20 years, candidates have been put through their paces with tourism-focused tasks including: having to sell tours and experiences in Antigua and Barbuda in series 17; planning and selling tours in Innsbruck and its surrounding Alpine region in series 19; running and selling tourist experiences such as boat and vineyard tours in Budapest in series 18; and in series 10, competitors went out to Finland to create advertising material for summer tourism in the lakes and cultural areas near Helsinki.
The candidate who wins this year’s Apprentice will secure £250,000 investment in their business plan under the mentorship of Lord Sugar.
