The Princess Royal will join Cunard’s newest ship Queen Anne as part of the cruise line’s 185th anniversary celebrations in Liverpool later this month.
The festivities will begin on 26 May, when Queen Anne – Cunard’s newest ship – arrives in the Mersey, almost a year to the day since the ship was named in Liverpool.
After Princess Anne’s visit, Cunard will officially open its ‘Sea of Glamour’ exhibition at The Royal Liver Building. In attendance will be Queen Anne’s Icons – five Liverpudlian women chosen to represent the city after Liverpool was named as the ship’s Godparent. The icons are Spice Girl Melanie C, broadcaster Ngunan Adamu, entrepreneur Natalie Haywood, musician Jayne Casey and Olympian Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
The exhibition has been curated by photographer Mary McCartney and will showcase the ‘glamour, grandeur, and cultural heritage of life at sea through Cunard’s illustrious 185-year history’.
