Phil Shipman has left his role as UK and Ireland Sales Director for Globus Family of Brands (Gfob), which includes Cosmos Tours, Globus Journeys and Avalon Waterways.
Gfob said Phil has taken the decision to leave due to a change in personal circumstances, adding that it will allow him to ‘focus on his wellbeing and plan for this next chapter’.
In a statement, it said that during his time at Gfob, Phil had been ‘instrumental in the strengthening and growth of the trade team and efforts across Cosmos Tours, Globus Journeys and Avalon Waterways, with a particular emphasis on targeted partnerships and servicing travel agents’.
“Phil also played a pivotal role in the launch of Avalon Waterways and Cosmos Tours in the Irish market, which has proven to be a huge success,” it added.
“UK and Ireland MD Lesley Taylor and the whole team are very grateful for the leadership, dedication and camaraderie Phil has shown over the last three years.
“He will be much missed by everyone at the company both in the UK and globally across the USA and Australia.
“Phil is very well known within travel ,having worked in the industry for a remarkable 30 years. This pause will give Phil time to reflect and consider potential new avenues.”
Phil joined Gfob in 2023 from Classic Collection, where he was Head of Sales North. He has also worked as a Business Development Manager Trade for both Sani Resorts and Ikos Resorts, and as Key Account Manager for G Touring, among other roles in the industry.
Recruitment for a replacement for Phil is starting imminently, and updates and details will be shared in due course, said Gfob.
“In the meantime, Lesley Taylor will be supporting the sales team as they continue their work across the UK and Ireland,” it added.
