Online travel agent On the Beach has launched ‘price drop protection’ for customers to encourage early bookings.
It is promising those who book before midnight on 3 February that they can claim a refund of the difference if On the Beach drops the price, but only up to 60 days before departure.
On the Beach says the guarantee will ‘give customers peace of mind’ that they won’t miss out on a better deal.
It launched the marketing initiative after carrying out a survey of 2,000 adults earlier this month, which revealed that 63% waited for a better deal before booking their holiday last year, and 40% waited till a few months before departure – or even till the last minute.
For 51% of those who waited, the price stayed the same or ‘went up considerably,” said On the Beach.
“We know that a whopping 75% of holiday-wanting Brits are worried about prices going up if they wait, yet many are willing to take the risk to see if they can secure a better deal,” said Chief Customer Officer Zoe Harris.
“We’re now eliminating all risk, anxiety, stress and worry for customers with our industry first Price Drop Protection.”
On the Beach said its survey showed 27% of people plan to book their holiday with their January pay packets, and it’s hoping the price drop guarantee persuades a further 27% who are undecided.
