Online travel agent On the Beach (OTB) has brought back its guarantee to refund customers the difference in the cost of their holiday if it drops the price up to 60 days before departure
The Price Drop Protection was initially launched in January for a two-week period, for summer 2025 holidays, but OTB said it was so successful it has brought it back indefinitely.
The OTA said it has already refunded ‘thousands of pounds’ to customers, with one receiving £573 back on a seven-night family holiday to Centara Mirage in Dubai (pictured), leaving on 22 May, which originally cost more than £4,000.
Chief Customer Officer Zoe Harris said the response to its price guarantee was ‘nothing short of phenomenal’.
“Customers flooded in, thrilled to finally have a holiday company that guarantees them the absolute lowest price on their summer getaway, because that’s exactly what they need right now,” she said.
OTB declined to put a figure on any uplift in bookings, but Zoe added: “After seeing thousands of pounds returned as credit and an average of over £150 back per holiday, we knew we couldn’t stop there. We had to bring it back for everyone who hasn’t booked yet, because no one should miss out on the chance to save big on their dream summer escape.”
The customer who received the highest refund to date of £573, Sharnjeet Gill, said: “It felt almost too good to be true, as it’s rare to find companies that honour price drops after a purchase. I will likely put it towards a holiday this year, as it feels like an unexpected bonus that makes another trip more affordable.”
A second customer who received a refund of £371 on a family holiday to Egypt said: “We knew about the initiative and it gave us complete reassurance when we booked. I checked the price every day and was relieved when the price dropped as I knew I’d be getting the credit back. We’ll likely put it towards a big holiday for next year.”
