The number of new jobs in the travel industry rose by 24% in July, according to recruitment firm C&M.
The C&M Travel Recruitment Activity Index shows July’s vacancy total was the highest since February, though it was down just 1% year-on-year.
New candidates applying for roles dipped 9% last month but were still up 18% compared with July 2025. Placements, meanwhile, fell 8% and were down 21% on last year.
C&M co-owner and Managing Director Barbara Kolosinska said: “It’s great to see a big increase in the number of new jobs being made available. Lots of these roles are very appealing with excellent salaries, so this should lead to more candidates applying for the positions and – hopefully – more placements being made in the coming months.
“We’ve been saying it for some time now, but we need momentum and consistency in the travel recruitment market and a 24% monthly increase in new vacancies is an excellent sign.
“August is usually one of the very quietest months of the year, but the indications so far suggest this August could be the busiest that we’ve had in some time. Fingers crossed!”
