NCL cancels dozens of cruises

Norwegian Cruise Line has cancelled dozens of sailings on four ships for the winter 2025-26 season.

The cruise line cancelled 38 sailings on three ships at the end of last week and has since announced it will redeploy a fourth ship.

Cruises have been cancelled on Norwegian Jewel between 23 November 2025 and 5 April 2026. The ship had been due to operate Caribbean and Mexican cruises out of Tampa, Florida. Instead, Norwegian Jewel will be redeployed to operate cruises from Miami to the Bahamas, southern Caribbean and Panama Canal. On 16 April, the ship will continue planned itineraries and reposition to Philadelphia to sail to Bermuda and Charleston.

Sailings on Norwegian Star have been cancelled between 20 November 2025 and 14 April 2026. The first cancelled sailing is a 14-night repositioning cruise from Lisbon to Rio De Janeiro. After that the ship had been due to sail in South America. Norwegian Star will now operate a transatlantic cruise, then operate itineraries in the Bahamas and southern Caribbean.

Norwegian Dawn’s cruises from Barcelona between 2 November 2025 and 12 April 2026 have been cancelled. The first cancelled cruise is a 21-night itinerary taking in Africa and the Canary Islands. Norwegian Dawn will now also operate a transatlantic itinerary, followed by western Caribbean cruises.

NCL has since also cancelled cruises on Norwegian Jade, between 18 October 2025 and 16 February 2026.

The ship had been due to homeport in Miami for the winter, operating Caribbean cruises and Panama Canal itineraries. Norwegian Jade will now be based in San Diego, operating seven-day roundtrips to the Mexican Riviera.

NCL said: “Occasionally, scheduled itineraries may need to be cancelled, allowing us the opportunity to introduce enhanced voyages that accommodate strong guest demand and provide a more immersive experience.”

Passengers have been told they will get a 100% refund within 30 days as well as a 10% discount in the form of a future cruise credit (FCC). Guests who booked using a FCC will have their credit refunded within 10 days.

The new itineraries will go on sale on 29 November 2024.
