Scottish Highlands travel agency Murray Travel has chartered a new route from Inverness to Gran Canaria for 2026.
The five-weekly programme will run from mid-February and, if successful, Murray Travel will expand with more destinations.
The new route is on the back of Murray Travel’s one-day Lapland trip in December 2025, which sold out in three days, resulting in an additional trip being added.
Flight-only and full package holidays are on sale. Packages will be sold through Murray Travel’s tour operation MTHolidays, which was set up to operate the charter programme.
Co-founder Scott Murray said: “This has been almost three years in the making.
“The dream is to make the Highlands feel less cut off. We’ve proven with Lapland that the appetite is there – people want unique, high-quality travel experiences that start right here at home. This is just the beginning.
“As a Highland business, we’ve always believed in the potential of our local airport, and we’re delighted to finally bring this project to life.
“Gran Canaria is a hugely popular destination, and now Highland travellers can fly direct from their doorstep – no long layovers or stressful connections needed. And no driving up the A9 at 2am after a long flight”.
Inverness Airport General Manager Graeme Bell the route is ‘a great addition to the growing leisure flight options from Inverness Airport’.
