MSC puts in order for New Frontier Class ships

MSC Cruises has ordered four brand-new New Frontier Class ships, with options for two more.

The order has been placed with German shipbuilding company Meyer Werft, and the 5,400-passenger ships will be delivered annually, starting in 2030.

The announcement was made on Monday in Berlin and it is the first order MSC has placed with Meyer Werft.

MSC Cruises Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago said: “The New Frontier Class will enable us to design new and exclusive itineraries, offer exceptional guest experience and will feature next-generation environmental technologies that will advance our net-zero 2050 commitment.”

Details of the new class of ships follow an announcement last month that MSC had placed an order for two more 6,500-plus capacity World Class ships, increasing its fleet in this class to eight by 2031.
