MSC Cruises orders two more World Class ships

MSC Cruises has today signed an order for its seventh and eighth World Class ships.

They will be built at the French Chantiers De l’Atlantique shipyard.

The order was signed by Executive Chairman of MSC’s Cruise Division Pierfrancesco Vago (pictured above, right) during a double ceremony to mark the float out of MSC World Asia and the laying of coins to mark the start of construction of MSC World Atlantic.

MSC World Asia, the third World Class ship, will join the fleet in December 2026 and World Atlantic will arrive in late 2027.

The fifth World Class ship is due to join the fleet in 2029 and the sixth in 2030. Construction of the seventh ship will begin in 2029 and it is also due to join the fleet in 2030.

The eighth will begin service in 2031.

The additional order takes MSC’s investment in the French shipyard to 10.5 billion euros.
