Leiza Sullivan has joined Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours and Emerald Cruises & Tours as Sales Manager for the North and Midlands. Travel Gossip found out a bit more about Leiza in a quick Q&A…
I never travel without… a book and some lip gloss. I love having the opportunity to zone out, relax and lose myself in a good book. When I’m flying, I’m always applying lip gloss, as the air is so dry and chapped lips are never a good look.
The famous person (dead or alive) I’d most like to sit next to on a plane is… Liam Neeson. He’s just fabulous. I love his accent and I could listen to him all day.
My weakness is… shopping. I’m a terrible shopaholic. I love clothes and bags and shoes.
The next place I’ll visit is… Amsterdam for the CLIA River Cruise Conference in March. I haven’t booked this year’s holiday yet, but when I do, I’m hoping to book a trip to the Maldives.
The worst thing I ate or drank abroad was… Tequila, on a trip to Crete. I’m still traumatised by the experience eight years later and have never drunk it since.
My bucket-list destination is… Bali. I’ve always wanted to go and would love to experience a multi-centre holiday taking in the beautiful laid-back beaches, the culture, the nightlife and, of course, the shopping.
Born and brought up in…Silsden, a small rural village in West Yorkshire in between Skipton and Ilkley.
Live in… Hornsea on the east coast. It’s very pretty and peaceful. It has such a lovely community feel to it and some great bars and restaurants.
The best piece of advice I’ve been given is… “Stop expecting the same from others as you would do for them.” It saves disappointment in the long run. A saying that my lovely grandad always lived by was: “Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today.” I think that’s where I get my work ethic from – I never stop.
If I could eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be… crisps, chocolate and cheese. I love them all and can’t pick just one.
The emoji I use most often is… the hand to the head face palm emoji 🤦♀️.
The thing I miss most while travelling is… I should say my husband, but in reality, it’s my dog, Honey. She’s a bulldog that we rescued two years ago and I love her so much.
When I left school, I wanted to be… a riding instructor. I was horse mad and had one for many years. I really thought that riding would be my job for life.
The thing I’m most proud of is… my children and my career. I have two grown up children; my daughter is a travel agent and my son works in construction. They are funny, opinionated, kind and hardworking, and I’m so proud of them and my two grandchildren. My career is a close second, with relationships that I’m so proud of that I’ve nurtured for years.
In my new role, I’ll be… Looking forward to reconnecting with my valued travel agent partners in the North and Central regions. Promoting the amazing product portfolio that we have to offer and our fantastic New Year savings campaign. I love driving and meeting people, and the fact that no two days on the road are the same. I’m also looking forward to working with some new accounts that I’ve never met before. It’s all really exciting.
What attracted me to the job was… the incredible reputation that Scenic and Emerald have and the extensive product portfolio. Having the opportunity to promote both yacht and expedition cruises to compliment river cruising, is fantastic.
The first thing I notice about a person when I meet them is… their facial expression, You can tell a lot about people from a genuine smile.
If I won the Lottery tomorrow, I would… travel the world and then settle down and buy a farm and set up an animal rescue to ensure every abandoned animal has a loving home.
