Meet the… Crystal Key Account Manager Michael Young-Richards

Michael Young-Richards joined Crystal this month, in the newly created role of Key Account Manager for the UK and Ireland. He joins the line from Celebrity Cruises and has also held positions with Do Something Different, Kuoni and TUI UK. Travel Gossip found out a bit more about him…

I never travel without… a good book, preferably an autobiography of some sort, but I very rarely finish a book on holiday as I am too nosy and love to people watch.

The famous person (dead or alive) I’d most like to sit next to on a plane is…100% Adele. I love her.

My weakness is… Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons, but only after they have been in the freezer for a few hours.

The next place I’ll visit is… for the first time in what feels like forever, we are off as a family on a UK break to Cornwall this summer. We rescued a French Bulldog called Marcel not too long ago, so we want to take him on a holiday with us.

The last place I visited was… the Norwegian Fjords, on a cruise, obviously. I love that part of the world.

The worst thing I ate or drank abroad was… Ouzo. I travel to Kefalonia in Greece every year, and every year I try it. I’m not sure why I put myself through it, but I always think ‘when in Greece’ .

My bucket-list destination is… Alaska has been on my bucket list for far too long.

Born and brought up in… Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.

Live in… Northwich, Cheshire.

The best piece of advice I’ve been given is… don’t save anything for best – wear your best shoes and spray the good aftershave on a daily basis.

If I could eat one meal for the rest of my life, it would be… my husband’s homemade lasagne, which he is actually making as we speak.

The emoji I use most often is…🍾

The thing I miss most while travelling is… it’s got be a good cup of tea.

When I left school, I wanted to be… a primary school teacher.

The thing I’m most proud of is… our son Jacob. We adopted him when he was nearly two, and he has grown in to a strong, independent (sometimes stroppy) teenager.

In my new role, I’ll be… engaging with agents all over the UK and Ireland. What an exciting time for me to join the Crystal team. I’m really looking forward to sharing more information on Crystal Grace and her launch. I can’t wait to reconnect with many friends I have in the industry and also make some new ones along the way.

What attracted me to the job was… what isn’t there to love about this role, the team and the exciting future ahead of us all at Crystal? I have a strong passion for supporting agent partners to succeed, and I know this role will give me that amazing opportunity. And not forgetting welcoming Crystal Grace to the family.

The first thing I notice about a person when I meet them is… their aftershave/perfume. I love a good fragrance.

If I won the lottery tomorrow, I would… buy a camper van. It’s something we talk about often.
