Manchester Airport has announced plans to remodel and improve Terminal 3, as part of its decade-long transformation programme.
Computer-generated designs reveal what the new multi-million pound terminal will look like when it opens.
The designs feature a new entrance, with extra space, and new security equipment.
Seating capacity in the departure lounge will also increase by 40%. There will also be a new 500-seat bar, with airfield views, and an expanded dining area with 200 extra seats. There will also be more shops and landside facilities in the arrival area.
Initial work has already begun, with the renovation expected to be completed next year.
While Terminal 1, as it currently exists, will close, parts of the building space will be used to expand the adjoining Terminal 3.
Manchester Airport Managing Director Chris Woodroofe said: “Moving to a two-terminal airport is giving us a great opportunity to use some of the existing Terminal 1 space to increase the footprint of Terminal 3.
“We’re doing that as well as making some all round improvements to Terminal 3 – so passengers will enjoy new security technology, more space, more seats, new retail and food and drink, and more.
“It’s another exciting step towards delivering an even better experience for our passengers and I can’t wait to see it progress.”
The first phase of the decade-long transformation project saw an extension added to the existing Terminal 2 building to double its size, which opened in 2021.
Meanwhile, the second phase of the project, which is due for completion later this year, plans to being the existing part of the building up to the same standard as the extension, with the addition of more than 20 new retailers, bars and restaurants.
Earlier this year, Manchester Airport produced a short video giving passengers a first look at how its revamped Terminal 2 will look when it is completed later this year.
