Police have charged a man in connection with a burglary at TUI’s Scunthorpe branch.
Humberside Police posted on its North Lincolnshire Facebook page on Monday (1 June) that officers attended the shop in the early hours of the morning after receiving notification of an intruder alarm activation at the travel agent on the High Street.
The post added officers discovered what they described as an ‘insecurity’ at the premises and reported a number of items missing.
A man was arrested on suspicion of commercial burglary and a spokesperson for Humberside Police told Travel Gossip he has since been charged.
TUI’s Scunthorpe branch was closed on Monday as a result of the incident, with customers directed to TUI stores in Doncaster and Grimsby. The branch reopened on Tuesday (2 June).
A TUI spokesperson told Travel Gossip: “We can confirm that our Scunthorpe store was broken into overnight. The store was closed at the time, there were no staff present and there was no access to the shop floor. We are working closely with the police and a full investigation is underway.”
