Lincolnshire Co-op has announced a £5 million-a-year cyclical refresh plan for its 40 shops, with Louth Travel becoming its first travel branch to undergo a renovation.
A total of £160,000 is being spent on Louth Travel, with the space designed ‘to reflect different modes of travel’.
It includes ‘portholes’ on the wall next to desks, giving the illusion of looking out to sea, desks shaped like aircraft wings, and a departures board display.
A ‘relaxed’ space has been created for quick drop-ins, with tea and coffee facilities on a cupboard designed like an aircraft trolley.
Design features have been implemented to make the space feel lighter, including a wall mural that gives the illusion of big airport-style windows, and ‘unique’ lighting features throughout, it said.
Staff will work from Tritton Road Travel in Lincoln during the two-week renovation, which will begin on 1 September.
Wayne Dennett, Lincolnshire Co-op Travel and Post Office Operations Manager, said: “This is a massive transformation for Louth, and a sign of what’s to come within our wider travel business too.
“The new design features mean that our customers feel as though they have already started a new exciting journey as soon as they walk through the door.”
