Royal Caribbean has brought forward the inaugural sailing on its third Icon Class ship, Legend of the Seas.
The ship had been due to start sailing on 2 August 2026, but Royal Caribbean says the ship will be ready earlier and the inaugural cruise will now be on 11 July 2026. The seven-day inaugural will be a roundtrip from Civitavecchia, calling at Naples, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and Provence, for Marseille.
After that, there will be two more seven-night cruises, on 18 and 25 July 2026.
Guests booked on the original inaugural have been given the choice to change their cruise to an earlier sailing before the new itineraries go on sale.
In an email to guests, Royal Caribbean said: “Our teams have been working diligently to deliver to you An Iconic Family Holiday, and the ship is progressing ahead of schedule.
“Understanding that some guests may value being the first onboard, and others look forward to celebrating the inaugural voyage – we want to give you the first choice and the flexibility to switch sailings, add an additional sailing, or stay on your currently booked sailing.”
Guests who want to move sailings will have their bookings transferred to a like-for-like cabin, based on availability, on a first-come, first-served basis. Passengers must rebook no later than 24 September 2025 to secure their cabin.
After that date, the transfer ‘will be based on the current prevailing rate’.
Passengers can also move to one of the two additional sailing dates based on availability and at the prevailing rate.
