Jet2holidays adds 700 properties to sustainable hotel collection

Jet2holidays has expanded the number of properties in its Certified Sustainable Hotels collection from 800 to 1,500.

The properties in the collection meet an official standard for sustainable accommodation practices on ABTA’s list of hotel certification schemes.

Jet2 unveiled the hotel sustainability labelling scheme in 2023 to help agents easily find and choose accommodation that has achieved a sustainability certification.

The criteria cover reducing energy, water and waste, sourcing products locally, supporting local communities, and using reusable, returnable and recycled products.

The hotels in the collection can be seen here.

Jet2 is also launching a sustainable hotel toolkit to hotel partners at ITB Berlin this week. The toolkit outlines what Jet2holidays’ Certified Sustainable Hotels label is, as well as the process for getting certification and the benefits of certification, with hotel case studies.

The toolkit has been created in partnership with the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), who operate the Green Key criteria, which sets standards in environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry.

Head of Sustainability Paul Southall said: “We plan to expand this collection to over 3,000 hotels by 2035, and the launch of our brand-new toolkit will help our valued hotel partners understand the benefits of this certification so that they can meet the demand from customers who are looking at wanting to make sustainable travel choices.”
