Jet2 has debuted its new cabin crew and pilot uniforms, which have been developed with input from its own staff.
The new outfits mark the first major change to the Jet2 uniforms for more than 20 years.
The airline said they were designed and manufactured following 18-months of ‘in-depth’ consultation with staff ‘to get the look and feel just right’.
The process included design workshops, wearer trials, focus groups and a catwalk session, which led to ‘significant improvements to the design, durability, fit and comfort’, it said.
Jet2 said crew can now choose between a dress, skirt and trousers, but they haven’t clarified if the uniforms are gender specific.
The new uniform incorporates fibres made from recycled materials, and up to 80,000 garments from old uniforms will be recycled into new materials, with more than 3,000 garments that cannot be recycled being donated to charity.
Changes include the introduction of waistcoats and cardigans, and a new apron designed by cabin crew member June Winter, who is based at Newcastle Airport.
Head of Cabin Services Micki Miles said: “Since the launch of Jet2.com in 2003, our uniform has seen subtle changes, but this is the first major new design which represents a significant change and will ensure that we stay on-brand and stylish for many years to come.”
