Jet2 issues weather warning

Jet2 is warning customers that flights might be affected today and tomorrow due to ‘wintry conditions’ in parts of the UK.

The Met Office has issued three yellow weather warnings covering Nothern Ireland, Scotland, and from the north of England down to the Midlands, including Leicester and Birmingham.

It said as much as 10cms of snow could fall in areas over 200 metres, and as much as 20cms in areas over 300 metres.

The Met Office said there is a chance of snow settling at lower levels, causing some disruption.

Jet2 said it plans to operate all its flights on schedule, but warned there might be some disruption ‘if the weather worsens’.

In a message posted on its website, Jet2 advised customers to arrive at their airport as normal, where its teams will keep them updated.

“If your flight is disrupted, we’ll contact you via SMS and email. Regular updates will also be posted on this page,” it added.

“We’d like to apologise in advance for any disruption you may experience due to the weather, which is outside of our control.”

Manchester Airport said that, despite overnight snow, its bad weather preparations meant its operations were unaffected this morning. However, it warned that ‘on rare occasions’ it might need to close the runway for a limited period for snow clearing.
