Jersey Airport has reopened following a security incident which saw the terminal evacuated for five hours this morning (Wednesday).
Flights were suspended and around 300 passengers and staff were evacuated at 6.30am and taken to Strive, a nearby health club, while emergency services attended.
Eight flights were cancelled and nine were delayed as a result of the temporary closure.
The terminal reopened at 11.20am, but flight disruptions and passengers were told to check with their airlines for amended flight times.
Officials said the airport will remain open as long as needed today to allow for extra and delayed flights.
Media reports said the airport had received a bomb threat, but this has not been confirmed.
In a statement the airport said: “We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and appreciate the cooperation and understanding of those passengers who were affected. We are grateful to our colleagues, and to teams at our airport partners like Swissport and the airlines, for stepping up to ease a difficult morning for passengers. Our top priority is always to ensure the safety and security of everyone at the airport.”
An investigation into the incident will now take place.
