The UK Foreign Office (FCDO) has updated its advice for 14 countries in and around the Middle East area following Israeli strikes on Iraq on Thursday evening.
The warning has been issued for popular tourist destinations Cyprus, UAE, Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco, as well as nine other countries: Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Algeria, Yemen, Syria and Saudi Arabia.
The updated advice says: “Ongoing hostilities in the region and between Israel and Iran could escalate quickly and pose security risks for the wider region.”
The FCDO said Britons should ‘monitor local and international media for the latest information’ and ‘be vigilant and follow the instructions of local authorities’.
The FCDO has also updated its advice for Israel, after a nationwide state of emergency was declared following the strikes.
