Investigation launched after British man dies in Lanzarote hotel fall

An investigation has been launched after a British tourist died and another suffered severe injuries in a fall at a hotel in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote.

It’s been reported the men fell about six metres after a balcony railing collapsed in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called at 1:30am following a report that two people had fallen inside a hotel complex.

One of the men, aged 56, died instantly, while the other, aged 54, suffered severe injuries.

He is in a critical condition in the intensive care unit at Hospital Doctor José Molina Orosa in Arrecife.

The name of the hotel has not been formally announced.
