Intrepid Travel has announced a 26% increase in underlying pre-tax profits in 2025 to a record of £28.7 million, following a 29% rise in revenue to £431.3m.
The adventure travel company said it had also achieved record results in terms of customer experience and social impact.
It earned a Net Promoter Score (NPS) – a metric used to gauge customer trust and satisfaction – of 83 last year. During the same period, its charitable arm, the Intrepid Foundation, disbursed a record £1.8 million to communities around the world.
Intrepid said the increases in bookings and revenue were underpinned by growing demand for its style of ‘experience-rich travel’, with standout growth across the Australia and UK markets, as well as the additions through the acquisition of Dutch tour operator Sawadee Reizen.
It paid out £5.7m in employee bonuses in the form of both cash and shares, and confirmed a goal to double its employee shareholding to 20%.
However, there was a 10-point drop in its employee NPS to 54, which it blamed on a ‘greater focus on efficiency coupled with strong growth’. It said employee engagement ‘remained strong at 80’, which it said demonstrated that ‘Intrepid’s global team of 3,574 employees and tour leaders remain engaged and proud to work for the business’.
The annual report also outlined Intrepid’s new five-year Impact Strategy and its new Climate Action Plan, which includes launching a new £1m annual Climate Impact Fund from 2026 onwards for decarbonisation initiatives.
CEO James Thornton said: “Our 2025 performance shows that it is possible to grow a resilient, profitable business while staying true to our values – even in the face of global uncertainty.
“At a time when the world is more divided than ever, I’m incredibly proud that more travellers are choosing to experience the world the Intrepid way. These results are testament to our team, who deliver exceptional experiences for our customers while creating positive impact for communities.”
