InsideAsia has revealed details of its first group tour to South Korea.
The Asia specialist insists the country is safe to visit following political upheaval two weeks ago, when President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law, which was quickly revoked.
A spokesperson described the situation as ‘an extraordinary political turn of events… followed by overwhelmingly peaceful protests that have resulted in Yoon’s impeachment’.
The spokesperson added: “South Korea remains safe for visitors.”
The 10-day ‘Soul of Korea’ tour takes in ‘must-see highlights and off-radar sights of Seoul, Busan and Jeonju’, including craft activities in Bukchon Hanok Village, Bibimbap (Korean rice bowl) making classes in Jeonju, market food shopping and beaches in Busan, and the ancient capital of the Silla kingdom, Gyeongju.
The ‘Soul of Korea’ Small Group Tour is now on sale, with departure dates starting from May 2025.
Each tour will have a maximum of 16 travellers, led by a local tour leader – called an Insider – and local guides. Travel between destinations will be on high-speed KTX trains and guests will stay in a traditional ‘hanok’ in Gyeongju.
Inside Travel Group co-founder Alastair Donnelly said South Korea’s appeal as a tourist destination is on the increase.
“South Korea is rapidly becoming one of Asia’s ‘hottest new destinations’, and this tour gives travellers the opportunity to uncover both the iconic landmarks and lesser-known districts in Seoul and beyond, all while being guided by insightful Insiders who have made Korea their home.”
