Ibiza Rocks Hotel

Ibiza Rocks Hotel has suspended its events programme following the death of a second British guest this month.

Nineteen-year-old Gary Kelly, a professional ice hockey player from Dundee, died after falling from a third-floor balcony at around 12:40am on Monday (21 July).

Two weeks earlier, 26-year-old Evan Thomson, from Aberdeen, died after falling from a sixth-floor balcony, on 7 July.

The hotel in San Antonio is famous for daytime pool parties and on-site music venues, and is featured by UK operators including TUI, Jet2holidays and easyJet holidays.

Ibiza Rocks issued a statement on social media to say: “We are deeply shocked and devastated by the recent incidents that have tragically occurred. Our priority is to support those affected and their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, and to fully assist the authorities with their investigations.

“The safety and wellbeing of our guests has, and always will, remain our highest priority.

“Given the seriousness of the situation and out of respect for those involved, we believe it is right to pause our advertised events programme at this time. All customers will be informed directly via email.”

The hotel has not said how long the events have been paused for. Among Ibiza Rocks’ upcoming events are 20th anniversary celebrations on 23 and 30 July, headlined by Dizzee Rascal and Rudimental respectively. It is not know whether these scheduled celebrations will still go ahead.

Travel Gossip has contacted Ibiza Rocks for more details, including how long events will be suspended for.
