Expedition line HX is looking at launching charter flights to the Falkland Islands to make it easier for guests to access its expedition cruises in the region.
Further details will be announced on 15 September, when it launches its full 2028/29 season.
Other highlights for the 2028/29 season include shorter, seven-night cruises to both Greenland and Alaska and new South Georgia voyages on MS Roald Amundsen, one of HX’s two hybrid-powered ships.
Following the success of the cruise line’s megafam in May this year, it will be running three more agent fams in 2027 and 2028, including one sailing from a UK port.
While details are still at the planning stage, Nathaniel Sherborne, Senior Vice-President and Managing Director for EMEA, ANZ and Global Sales Enablement, said he’d had the go-ahead for the three agent trips, to take place in 2027 and autumn 2028.
He’s aiming to run two fams in 2027; one from Reykjavik, Iceland on board MS Fram in the autumn – for up to 170 agents – and one towards the end of 2027 on MS Spitsbergen – for up to 190 agents – to an as-yet-undecided destination.
Nathaniel is also hoping to get agents on board MS Fridtjof Nansen for a three-day megafam in autumn 2028, sailing from the UK. The ship, which hosted the HX megafam in May this year, holds 490 passengers.
To further help agents sell its cruises, HX is launching a new agent training platform later this year with product information, latest news and access to its assets.
“In the past, we have relied on in-person training, but the next step is to make is easier for agents to access training and information online, in their own time,” said Nathaniel. “There is a huge opportunity for us to bring more agents into selling expedition cruises.”
