Spain is expected to end a rule that everyone must wear masks inside by Easter.
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said this week that masks would cease to be obligatory ‘soon, very soon’.
He stressed that the decision would be taken by Spain’s Health Minister Carolina Darias, who is understood to be meeting tomorrow with ministers from regional governments in the Balearics and the Canaries to discuss Spain’s new public health surveillance system.
Spain ended a ruling that masks must be worn outdoors last month, but they are still mandatory in hotels, restaurants and public buildings.
However, the country is now claiming to have the lowest reported cumulative incidence of COVID-19 in Europe and a high percentage of its population is vaccinated.
