Heathrow saw its busiest September on record, handling 7.4 million passengers, despite a cyber attack that hit airlines and airports last month.
The attack on US tech firm Collins Aerospace knocked out check-in systems, forcing airlines to revert to writing boarding passes by hand.
A Heathrow spokesperson said: “Even with the unexpected Collins Aerospace IT issue that impacted airline systems across Europe, our teams worked tirelessly to ensure passengers got away on their well-earned holidays without cancellations.”
Throughout September, the airport said 95% of passengers waited less than five minutes in security lines.
Passenger numbers rose by 0.8% year on year, and current figures for January to September sit at 63.3m – up 0.3% compared to the same time last year.
