Hays Travel reports 10% increase in turnover and profit

Hays Travel has released its annual accounts, showing the group’s turnover increased 10%, from £457.4 million last year to £506.6m.

Group pre-tax profits for the 12 months to the end of April 2025 were also up 10% at £80.4m, compared to £73.4m in 2024.

Staff costs increased, up from £84.4m to £115.4m, as the number of employees grew from 3,535 to 4,556.

Turnover in Hays’ homeworking division increased by 12%, and foreign exchange turnover was £26.6m, up from £25.9m in 2024.

Hays Travel owner and Chair Dame Irene Hays said the ‘consistent growth’ of the business was attributed to its strategy to offer a balance of short-haul, long-haul and cruise to customers.

She said: “We are pleased to see our clear strategy is having a positive impact on our balance sheet. We are fiercely proud of our independence, which allows us to offer our customers the best choice and value across beach, city, cruise, touring and experiential holidays. Our growth has been consistent and always in line with our ambitious vision, while valuing our people, our customers and the communities where we operate.”

Dame Irene added that cost pressures and investment in technology and acquisitions this year mean the group is unlikely to report as strong results next year, but said they ‘delivered on planned growth in all areas’ of the group.

In the past month, Hays Travel has acquired one-shop The Holiday and Flight Centre in Hamilton; Millington Travel, a 14-branch chain with shops across the Midlands and 15-branch Polka Dot Travel. In the summer Hays acquired 12-branch and homeworker network Spears Travel and Cruise.co.uk owner Victoria Travel Group.
