The Foreign Office (FCDO) has updated its travel advice for 16 countries across the Middle East and surrounding region, including Turkiye, Egypt, the UAE and Jordan.
Oman, Qatar, Pakistan, Bahrain, Saudia Arabia, Iraq, Yemen, Kuwait, Palestine, Israel, Syria and Iran are also included.
The update, which was issued this afternoon (27 October), warned of regional tensions.
It said: “The context in the Middle East remains deeply unpredictable and the risk of sudden escalation is high. Since conflict began in early 2026, Iran has stated its intention to target locations associated with the US and Israel, including, but not limited to, organisations, businesses, facilities, and institutions.
“There have been strikes and retaliatory attacks by Iran and others across the region against civilian and US military infrastructure.
“British nationals in, or planning to travel through, the Middle East should be prepared for possible flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions.”
The FCDO advises travellers to follow local authority instructions, monitor news reports and sign up for travel advice alerts.
It urgers travellers to check airport and airspace updates, as closures can happen at short notice, avoid security and military facilities, and keep departure plans under review.
