The UK Foreign Office (FCDO) has updated its advice for travel to Belgium, covering today’s national strike.
The FCDO said: “There will be a national transport strike in Belgium on 13 February. Unions plan to strike on the 13th of every month until further notice.
“All Belgian airports will be closed on 13 February. Bus and rail services will be severely limited throughout the entire country during the national strike.
“Eurostar services remain unaffected on 13 February.
“Monitor local news and check with your travel provider regarding potential delays.”
It also warned travellers to avoid areas where large gatherings are taking place.
The strike has been called by Belgium’s three main unions and an estimated 60,000 people are expected to take part in a protest in Brussels from 10.30am local time today.
