Travellers to Italy and Morocco are being warned of potential disruption due to industrial action, protests and demonstrations.
In Italy, a 24-hour strike, which started at 9pm on Thursday, is disrupting trains and buses.
The Foreign Office (FCDO) advised travellers to check schedule details with local transport providers.
Additionally, the FCDO is warning of a demonstration against Israel’s actions in Gaza in Rome on Saturday, 4 October. “This is likely to attract a large number of protestors and cause disruption to roads and transport in the city centre. Plan your day and avoid any demonstrations,” it said.
In Morocco, youth-led anti-government protests and demonstrations are taking place across the country, which have already resulted in three deaths in Leqliaa, near Agadir. In a travel update, the FCDO said: “There are reports of significant police presence and rallies resulting in violent clashes. The situation remains unpredictable.
“Avoid demonstrations and large gatherings and follow the advice of local authorities. Demonstrations may lead to travel disruption. Allow extra time for journeys and monitor local media for updates.”
