The Foreign Office is making British travellers aware of a tourist hotline in Sri Lanka as the ongoing air strikes in the Middle East continue to affect other destinations.
It warned that the air strikes in the Middle East have caused ‘widespread travel disruption’ including airspace closures, delayed and cancelled flights.
“Your travel plans may be affected, even if your destination is not in the Middle East,” it said, adding that British nationals should check for the latest updates from airlines and tour operators before travelling.
It also advised them to review their travel insurance policy for coverage, to monitor local and international media for the latest information, and sign up for travel advice email alerts.
“Many flights to the Middle East from Sri Lanka continue to be suspended,” it said. “British nationals in Sri Lanka should contact their airlines for the latest updates.”
Additional assistance is available, it said, on a Sri Lankan Tourist Hotline, which can be reached from any phone network in the country on 1912.
