The UK Foreign Office (FCDO) has updated its advice to Britons following Monday’s earthquake in the west of Colombia.
The FCDO said large parts of the country remain affected following the 7.4 magnitude earthquake and travellers should continue to expect ‘potential travel disruption and airport closures’.
It said Matecaña International Airport in Pereira remains closed.
Intrepid Travel had one group that was travelling close to the area affected by the earthquake and said it is assessing the impact on current and upcoming trips.
UK General Manager Joanna Reeve said: “Intrepid has accounted for all customers and team members in Colombia – our groups are safe and well.
“This includes one group who was in the proximity of the earthquake in Salento, Quindío. This group is safe and their itinerary has been adjusted slightly, as a precaution and in line with local advice.
“Safety remains our top priority and we are closely monitoring updates from the Colombian Geological Service, Colombian National Unit for Disaster Risk Management, local authorities, suppliers, and our local team of experts.
“We continue to assess any impacts on current trips, transportation services, accommodations, and upcoming departures and will continue to adapt as needed to ensure the safety of our staff and customers.”
