Airlines flying over Iranian airspace have had to divert following last night’s Israeli strikes on Iran.
Iraq has closed its airspace and suspended all traffic at its airports, according to Iraqi state media.
The website Safe Airspace said: “Traffic is now diverting either south via Egypt and Saudi Arabia, or north via Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.”
Air India has diverted flights or returned them to their origin, including ones from New York, Vancouver, Chicago and London, and an Emirates flight from Manchester to Dubai was diverted to Istanbul, Reuters reports.
Ben Gurion Airport in Israel has been closed until further notice and EL AL Airlines said it has suspended flights and is moving some aircraft out of the country. Another Israeli carrier, Israir, said it is moving its planes from the airport.
Lufthansa has suspended flights to Tehran until further notice.
