Flight Centre UK has revealed plans to open two new stores in London and the South East after reopening a branch in Islington this week.
Flight Centre previously had 78 branches across the UK, including one in Islington in north London, but it retained only 12 after the pandemic.
Flight Centre UK General Manager Joe Beevis told Travel Gossip the reopening of a north London branch, its 13th, was ‘a stepping stone to greater store coverage across the rest of London and the nation in the next couple of years’.
“We will continue our growth initially across London and the South East, where Flight Centre UK is well represented, with the intention to reopen stores nationally over the next couple of years,” he added.
He confirmed Flight Centre UK has plans for two new stores in London and the south-east, initially.
“Our high street expansion will naturally create more employment opportunities, and Flight Centre UK will grow consultant numbers and business travel BDMs (Business Development Managers) and account management numbers by approximately 40-50 in the coming year,” added Joe.
Of the new 40-50 consultants, 80% will be working on the leisure and luxury side of the business, with the remaining 20% focusing on SME (small medium enterprise) business travel, he said.
“We aim to employ extra personnel to grow our specialist travel teams who support customers with more precise requirements, such as complex multi-stop/round-the-world tickets, luxury travel and SME business travel.” added Joe.
The new Islington store will be run by Imogen Kerr, pictured, who joined Flight Centre’s fast track graduate programme in 2024. She will transfer from its branch in Monument.
