EasyJet to base ninth aircraft at Liverpool

EasyJet will base a ninth aircraft at Liverpool next summer.

The expansion follows the news that the airline will add new routes from the airport next summer to Lisbon in Portugal and Paphos in Cyprus.

EasyJet said the addition of the A320 aircraft ‘enables the airline to offer customers even more choice for flights and holidays’ and each new aircraft supports around 400 direct and indirect jobs.

This morning the group announced it recorded a 9% rise in headline pre-tax profits, to £665 million for the full year to 30 September.

From Liverpool, easyJet carried over 2.3m passengers in the financial year.

EasyJet UK Country Manager Kevin Doyle said: “Our success in the north west is a clear testament to the continued popularity of our flights and holidays, with 2.7 million customers choosing to fly with us this year for our trusted brand, unrivalled network and great value fares.

“The growth of our fleet with an additional aircraft in Liverpool will not only support around 400 jobs but is enabling us to further unlock the opportunity of the demand that we see for both leisure and business travel.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport CEO John Irving added: “This morning’s announcement of a 9th based easyJet aircraft in Liverpool is significant news for the airport and the wider city region.

“2025 has so far, been a record year for the airport with our busiest summer ever. This further announcement underpins the strong work and cooperation between easyJet and Liverpool John Lennon Airport, creating new jobs directly at the airport and bringing further indirect investment to the Liverpool City Region.”
