Nessebar in Bulgaria is the cheapest place in Europe for a shoulder season beach holiday, according to easyJet.
Its Cheap Beach Index ranks the top 20 destinations, taking into account the cost of flights and distance from the airport, as well as costs such as eating out and the price of a pint.
Nessebar, known as the Pearl of the Black Sea, was named the best-value beach thanks to £1.60 beers, return flights for £70 and three-star hotel rooms for £45 per night. The cost of an ice cream came in at £1.20, with a family meal and a three-course dinner for two costing £28 and £22, respectively. This gave it an index score of 94.1 out of 100.
The Budva Riviera in Tivat, Montenegro, took second place, with beers and three-star hotel rooms costing slightly more at £1.90 and £55. Food costs were slightly higher too, with ice cream priced at £1.50, a family meal costing £35 and a three-course dinner for two coming in at £30. Return flights remained the same at £70.
Costa de Almería and Costa Dorada in Spain took third and fourth place, respectively. Medulin in Pula, Croatia, rounded off the top five.
