Dnata ‘confirms proposals’ to close Travel Republic and Netflights brands

Dnata Travel Group has confirmed it is proposing to close its Travel Republic and Netflights consumer brands, and staff are under a consultation process.

The announcement follows confirmation in September that the group had hired City advisors to carry out a strategic review of its options for its UK brands.

In an update issued on Tuesday evening (11 November) a dnata Travel Group spokesperson said: “Dnata Travel Group confirmed proposals to bring operations for Travel Republic and Netflights to a close.

“This follows a detailed review of the Group’s UK-based travel businesses and forms part of a broader strategic effort to keep its portfolio aligned with its long-term objectives and the realities of a changing market.

“There is no immediate change for customers with existing bookings. All confirmed trips will go ahead as planned, and our customer service team will continue to assist travellers as usual.”

The spokesperson added: “Dnata Travel Group recognises the personal impact of these proposals and has initiated a formal consultation process with affected colleagues.

“No final decisions will be made until this process is completed. The consultation will focus on the rationale behind the proposals, opportunities for potential redeployment, and measures to support colleagues throughout the process.”

The statement confirmed that Gold Medal and Travelbag ‘are not included in the proposals and remain part of dnata Travel Group, continuing to trade as normal’.

“Dnata Travel Group remains committed to open and transparent communication with employees, customers and partners as the process progresses,” the statement ended.
