Hays Travel Chair Dame Irene Hays and family have been confirmed as among the highest taxpayers in the UK, along with famous names such as Harry Potter author JK Rowling, singer Harry Styles and boxer Anthony Joshua.
Jet2 founder Philip Meeson is also on The Sunday Times Tax List, coming in at number 42, just ahead of Dame Irene, who is the UK’s joint 49th highest taxpayer.
Philip Meeson, a former RAF pilot, paid £36.1m, unchanged from the previous year, while Dame Irene paid £28.6m, an increase on 2024, according to The Sunday Times.
Top of the list are Betfred founders Fred and Peter Done and family, who paid a total of £400.1 million in tax.
The Tax List rankings include corporation tax, dividend tax, capital gains tax, income tax and payroll taxes, according to the most recently filed company accounts up to 10 January.
