Costa Fortuna to leave fleet in 2026

Costa Cruises has announced that its longest-serving ship, Costa Fortuna, will leave the fleet in 2026.

The ship, which was built in 2003, will continue its current sailings in Greece and Turkey this summer and the Canary Islands in winter 2025-26, before leaving next year.

It will be delivered to its new owner in September 2026, but no further details have been given as yet.

Costa has previously transferred ships to sister brand Carnival Cruise Line. Costa Luminosa, Costa Venezia and Costa Firenze now all sail as Carnival Luminosa, Carnival Venezia and Costa Firenze.

As part of Costa’s fleet upgrade Costa Serena will go into drydock this November, with upgrades including a new food court with Pizzeria Pummid’Oro and Sushino@Costa, new pools and bars and its suites will be renovated.

Between October and December 2026 Costa Serena will sail a world cruise from Tokyo to Buenos Aires, before sailing south American itineraries for winter 2027. In spring 2027 the ship will offer Mediterranean itineraries.
