Travellers to Madrid are being warned of delays at security as staff continue with strike action.
Strike action began at Madrid-Barajas Airport on Sunday, with around 800 Trablisa security staff taking industrial action after negotiations over working conditions failed.
Aviation news site AeroTime said travellers were reporting long queues and delays of up to 90 minutes, with some passengers missing flights due to delays in getting through security checkpoints.
Madrid-Barajas Airport said: “Due to the security staff strike called by the company Trablisa at the airport, waiting times at the security checkpoint may be longer. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
Spanish airline, Iberia, posted on X yesterday: “Due to a security staff strike at Madrid Airport (unrelated to Iberia), airport access is experiencing delays. We recommend arriving earlier than usual and taking advantage of our free carry-on check-in service to help you get through security faster.”
There is currently no end date for the strike action.
