The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is seeking views on the recent acquisitions by Hays Travel of Polka Dot Travel and Millington Travel.
The CMA opened an investigation into the acquisitions at the end of last year, saying it had ‘reasonable grounds for suspecting that it is or may be the case’ that Hays Travel and the two individual companies it has acquired ‘have ceased to be distinct’.
In a case update today, it said: “The CMA is issuing this ‘invitation to comment’ to allow interested parties to submit to the CMA any initial views on the impact that the two transactions could have on competition in the UK.
“The CMA has not yet launched its formal investigations into these transactions. This invitation to comment is the first part of the CMA’s information-gathering process.
“To assist it with this assessment, the CMA invites comments on the transactions from any interested party.”
Comments should be sent to [email protected] by 9 February.
Hays has previously said it is committed to cooperating with the CMA throughout the review process and said each brand would operate separately.
