Carnival Cruise Line’s next two ships will be named Carnival Festivale and Carnival Tropicale.
President Christine Duffy made the announcement at an event onboard Carnival Celebration last weekend.
At the same time, she revealed that the following three ships launched by Carnival will be bigger, with each carrying up to 8,000 passengers. The first of these will be delivered in 2029.
Carnival Festivale, debuting in 2027, and Carnival Tropicale, due to arrive in 2028, will be similar to other Excel Class ships, but with some new features.
The Bolt rollercoaster on the three early Excel ships has been replaced with a three-deck multi-slide family waterpark, Sunsation Point.
Family Harbor has also been removed on the new ships. Instead, they will each have 1,000 interconnecting cabins, 70% more than on the earlier ships.
New food venues and concepts will be revealed at a later date, the cruise line said.
