Nearly 10 million holidaymakers booked an ATOL-protected trip over the first quarter of the year, an increase of 4.4% compared to the same period last year.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said 9.8m people booked an ATOL-protected holiday between January and March 2025. A further 8m passengers have forward bookings for the period April-October 2025, with 50% of these booked over the last three months.
The CAA said the increase highlights growing confidence among travellers in the ATOL system.
Head of ATOL Michael Budge said: “Nearly 10m consumers have recently booked their next get away, with the knowledge that should their travel provider go into administration they will be financially protected by ATOL.”
